  • Best Aquarium Rock

    Let's hear some opinions.

I've had tons of Texas Holey Rock over the years + countless other types.

It's time to scape my front tank.

I like the look of holey rock, but it is not natural looking for most of the fish we keep. I like large rounded river rocks.

Edit: I am not one for the "Rare" thing, I just like what I like and don't care if it is common.

depends on the tank, fish, and general feel for the aquarium...there isnt one rock that fits all scapes.

Don't know if I can make it today.

Got the texan's game and then go to my mom's house to sell some stuff.

Adg sells rocks similar, you can also order from www.Adana-USA.com. They should have real seiryu. Seiryu rocks come from japan, but they keep all the good stuff and only export the junky stuff

Cheaper just to get similar local stuff. Unless you really want the real stuff.

texas holey rock and aragonite sand. fronts love digging in the sand and it keeps my tank clean. the sand is denser and keeps all the gunk on the top instead of being able to seep into the gravel.

my tap water's pH is around 7. the texas holey rock and aragonite alongwith adding the cichlid buffer recipe (baking soda, epsom salt and Instant Ocean) helps keep my pH around 8.3 to 8.5 in my wc moba tank.

I have 2 large pieces of texas holey rock that serve as a rock wall. I had them specially cut and leveled at a masonry shop so they wouldn't topple over and have them sitting on an acrylic sheet that's siliconed on my glass tank's bottom. I have about 4-5 caves sitting in front of my texas holey rock walls.

I guess I'm somewhat old-school. My mobas sure like their home.
