NP I just want to make sure everyone succeeds in keeping discus. They aren't easy but they are wonderful fish. Just a PIA when things aren't right.

Just make sure you do your research first especially when getting into juvies. If you have the time to devote to them it's probably very rewarding to see a 6"+ discus and know you raised it from 2". I learned that it was way to much time for me.

In 43+ years of fishkeeping I've found only one hard and fast rule: Lazy people shouldn't keep fish. The rest is subject to tweaking.

With that said, you can probably keep a couple discus in the setup you described. I wouldn't, but that's me. In a tank that small two large discus will put a significant bioload in it. This will call for excellent filtration and probably 2 or 3 weekly water changes... Daily would be better.

Breeding pairs are often housed in 29s and 30XHs, so the situation is not without its precedent, but those tanks typically get daily water changes and meticulous cleaning.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
