You keep the fish you keep because you like them. Whether the attraction is beauty, behavior, or rarity, you keep them because you value them for a reason.
Sorry for your loss.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
Dude, what is everyone's deal??? I was just teasing this person for being THAT upset over those fish. I'm not saying that they aren't special but they can be bought again. Don't be mad at me cuz I stepped my game up. Ever since I got my Fronts, some people turned into haters. All of a sudden, I'm the bad guy again...
Does everyone hate my signature???

lol im not not mad at you, the reason i was upset is because these were my first fish since moving back down here and i got attached.
also does anyone know anybody that moves aquariums?
rhett i dont think people are replying to you about steping up your game...just being insensative to a person who was upset enought to post how bad they felt about having there parents killing there fish..most fish these days can be replaced really doesnt matter how rare...trust me everything is for sale...and if you have the cash you can buy what ever fish you want...i still think you are a nice guy and maybe just dont understand the ops love for there fish common or not..i hope you know the op and maybe they took it for what you meant as joke on being hurt over such a common fish....if the fish community was full of people that only like rare and expensive fish there would be alot less fish stores around for us to get our rare fish....anyway just my thoughts on it....mickey
210 gallon tank...empty.....wait till you see what is coming

No one's mad a you Rex. We are trying to be sensitive to this person's loss and show some compassion. It has nothing to do with the fish you personally own or whose fish are "better", "rare", "expensive", etc. Fishkeeping does not always have to be a competition of who has the better tanks or fish. I do love your sig Rhett, for other reasons. :)
The TFH hobby has 10's of 1000's of choices available.
I have the Baensch series plus several other quality TFH books and reference material that have more fish listed than imaginable. I've spent 1000's of hours chassing different fish and trying to learn more about them that I've found in these books. I bought lots of them and run from others.
Somewhere along the line fellow hobbyist have had all of these fish.
Picking and choosing fish or any other pet or hobby is a personal choice that allows one to escape the day day realities of life that consume us and aid as a tool to keep us functioning. Everyone that concentrates on a certain species considers it the king and that's the way it should be if they want to be great at what they do. in the same vain if you are a true hobbyist you should be respectful of the next person's personal choice and maybe learn something new from them. I've done it and i in some cases have tried it. Some good choice some bad.
Datnoids for example are a highly regarded fish in some circles and I respect that. Haven't had one but always take time to stop and look when i see them in a LFS. Their jaw, mouth and face structure appeal to me.
This forum has 1000's of members that are all doing things differently in one way or the other. If we so choose to offer an opinion it should only be poisitive and supportive, that can mean telling them that they did something wrong and offer advice to correct it. It's called learning and being a leader by example of lessons learned.
If you don't agree with what your seeing move on there are plenty of helping comments that will be there for the person in need.
This world has to many problems and getting into these type situations on what should be a helpful commradarie type forum shouldn't be.
i've made one negative comment about snakehead fish and i regretted it. Yes I am opposed to invasive species wipng out our natural resources. I'm a Marine Biologist AAS Graduate and fish are my passion wheather they be in a aquarim, creek bed salt water tank pond ocean etc etc.
Bottom line were all into something different even if it's the same. Show it the respect it deserves at all levels. One mans perch is another man's basement, so what that's what keeps the hobby vibrant and alive.
