Snails in my filter

I was cleaning out my FX5 last week and noticed alot of baby snails in there all in the sponge. the canister is on my 125 malawi. im not seeing any of them around the sand though.

where these fools come from?

do i need assassin snails?

Yup. Get them now before the mts explosion takes place.

Lots of people have them - including myself. I'ts probably best to find someone in your area of town.

throw a couple of loaches in the tank. Problems disappear. They wont make it out of the filter

Are they Malaysian trumpet snails (MTS), pond snails, or what?? Google them and let us know.. chances are you're too late and will need assassin snails, use a chemical that targets snails (worst case), clean the heck outta ur tank. I've had luck soaking filter media in NaCl before using it another tank. No snails so far.. GL.

I got 2 clown loaches in there. I only see them in my filter as of now.

You know....loaches nevered worked for me. I have loaches now.

They just eat nls pellets. Guess the snails are too much work for them.

+1, I had some clown loaches that did not work for me. Threw in about 10 assassin snails into my 150 gallon and that took care of the large majority of them. It was a slow process and I still see some in my cannister filters when cleaning them.

Two botia loaches cleared my better half's planted tank of snails in just a few days. Be aware that they like fish eggs just as much as snails.

No loach worked for me. I have been fighting these things for 12 yr's. Assasians finally worked and I mean they worked GREAT.
