  • Atlantic freshwater stingray

Are these legal to keep? If so how big of a tank would they require and where could I go about purchasing one? Thanks.

I don't know how accurate this thread is with 2011 laws but read this. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...p/t-24509.html

There's a couple more threads on monsterfish available if you search. Definitely look cool though!

Taken from: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild...tic.phtml#fish Prohibited: Freshwater Stingrays, Family Potamotrygonidae All species
If they are not in this family, they are legal. I believe Freshwater Atlantic stingray are in another Family, but look similar to some from the family Potamotrygonidae. Sometimes the wrong fish gets shipped from the wholesaler and the LFS is responsible for having an illegal fish. This is why they aren't found often . . . that and they can be kinda sensitive to changes in water chemistry.

Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

They are legal, though I heard they do better in brackish water. I have seen them before at Fish Gallery at their previous location.
