  • Making a beer bottle safe for Fishies.

What are your suggestions on making a broken beer bottle a safe decoration.

I know this sounds kinda odd, but I am going for a certain look. I have broken several bottles and am rounding off the sharp edges with my dremel. You can run your fingers on the edges and not cut yourself, do you think this would be enough of a precaution to keep my fish from injuring themselves?

    It seems reasonable to me...

^ Agree, sounds reasonable. Definitely post pics once you've got it setup.

I wouldn't keep a bubble eyed goldfish in that tank but it sounds interesting. If they are clear bottles then keep an eye on your fish after you put it in. I used some clear plant pots in my tank one time and believe it or not the fish would swim inside it and get stuck even though the top was wide open. I had to scoop them up and out.

Well luckily I will not have any goldfish in it and I think if my Oscars get stuck in a bottle, there are other issues that need to be dealt with. Like who shrunk my fish. I could see fish getting stuck in a clear container in the water as it turns almost invisible when it gets underwater from in the water. I only have one clear bottle and its intact. The rest will be the traditional brown. I think they will be fine, as a brown bottle is no different than a plastic piece of decoration you get in a store. I was mainly concerned with the fish injuring themselves on edges. But I think that is under control. Just getting a feel for others opinions and possible past expierences.

Thank you all for your comments and encouragement.
