I’ve noticed that kids these days are getting these crazy infections. I wonder if it is from over protective parents and all these anti-bacterial soaps...

How do you think that that bacteria get into her tank.... the fish or the water, or the food maybe?

too lazy to do my google search rite now, so is this a bacteria commonly found in our tanks but difficult to become infected by or is it a rare bacteria which we're screwed if we happen to be cleaning our aquariums and have an open wound

I tend to agree with the sentiment of this post. I think over-prescription of antibiotics and their incorrect patient usage has made us a weaker species overall, as well as making diseases resistant. Kids who aren't allowed to get dirty and eat a mud pie or two aren't getting immunized against some of the bacteria we come into contact with daily.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

MMMM mudpies, I remember in the scouts when you dropped food in the ash from the fire on on the ground, you just wiped the worst of it off and down it went. otherwise you got no food for being dumb enough to drop yours. lol

Ditto. I just keep scratching my head every time a friend tells me they go to the doctor with a cold (which is a virus...which antibiotics do NOTHING for) and they get a prescription for antibiotics. As to the kids, I noticed when we lived in the city and the kids were mostly in the house all day, we'd have a cold/flu/earache/etc... every week between the 3 of them. Now that we are away frmo the traffic and the kids play outside all day in the dirt/mud/grime they are RARELY sick.
