    yeah we got our hatchery at petco as an experiment.....and found out that it works well....it's in a little black box and you mix the eggs and wahla....bbs.....it's such an easy way to feed the fry....

      The fry must be about 5 to 7 days old now, not too sure, but, they are getting bigger. They now are about 1/4 inch long already, and seem to be taking on brichardi like attributes, like swimmin around in the open now like they where little bad a$$'s or something.  Their numbers are still pretty strong too, I'm guessing there is still around 35 to 40 of them. At this rate, they will be chasing the other fish around in two or three weeks .....  

      As soon as they are large enough, I'll get a pic up here on the forum.

        Picked up some live bbs from City Pets tonight.  Unfortunately the fry is not old enough to eat the shrimp so I am trying to keep em alive long enough to where I can feed them to them.  I am thinking by Friday they are going to need to have me start feeding them, maybe Saturday.. we will see.

          Zulaab, don't take this wrong, but you probably picked up regular or adult brine shrimp, if indeed it was baby brine shrimp you would know it.  Baby brine shrimp, at least the ones we have "hatched" here have been so small they are almost impossible to see.
          Smaller than a grain of beach sand they are, much smaller.

            If you are feeding large numbers of fry you need to set up a BBS hatchery similar to this.

              If you have brine shrimp eggs but don't want to wait 30 hours for them to hatch try decapsulating them.

                Well i believe you are correct.. these looks to be adults.. this is what happens when you goto an LFS and ask specifically for baby brine shrimp and they tell you this is it.....    This means they will be adult food for all the community fish in the morning.

                  Here's an update on the Cedar Point Gang (brichardi) fry at home.

                  I can't be sure, but I do believe there are more than one group of fry now, possibly three different batch's. There appears to be big fry, small fry, and tiny fry.  

                  I will get a pic up on the site here tonight or this weekend for sure. I'm sure you won't be able to see the tiny fry, they are barely visible to my "elder" naked eyes. My personal thanks to "Phishphreek" for the cool links to hatching BBS, I really enjoyed the funky music on the links....

                  I'm not feeding the fry anything special at this time, but will need to get more BBS going for the new fry. Their (the fry) numbers seem to be increasing on an almost weekly basis. I would guess that there are now in the neighborhood of 75 fry in various sizes, and maybe three different mother's involved.  I literally have fry coming out of the tiny holes in a piece of Texas Holly Rock in the tank.

                      Did fishlady PM you about Dave's Rare Fish, we ordered 4 Chalinochromis Brichardi from him and he is bringing them to the auction for us Sunday, he said he had plenty if you're still interested.

                          I know I know, I keep talking about pictures, well guess what, your going to get one or two tonight, I promise.....

                          I just wanted to update any of you who are interested in the Cedar Point Gang's fry situation, they have gone nuts, there are babies everywhere.
                          Realistically, there must be around 150 fry or close too! There are maybe three different size fry now and each group seems to have around 40 or more members to it. The newest group are teenie weenie ones, it should be a bit safer for the fry as I took out the non brichardi occupants.

                          I will get some pics up on the site tonight, as we have a wedding to get ready for now...... Have a good day all.....

                            CichlidFan,  Since I just got fry myself with my pink convicts, I bought a 10ml syringe to feed babies liquid medicine (at walmart next to the pharmacy) and then I grind up regular flake food to a fine powder which I add a little water, pull it in to the syringe and then close to the fry eject it.  The First day the adults didnt like me to put my hand near their fry, but by the second day they knew without question this is food and they drive their fry immediately to the cloud of food for feeding.  Because they are all in the community tank there is little chance I am going to end up with any survivors.. The pleco's run CONSTANTLY over there and the convicts cannot chase them away, they simply ignore the adults full force attacks on them.   I hope you have better luck with yours :)

                              I'm sorry to hear about those pesky pleco's.....too bad you can't isolate them for a few weeks elsewhere, but such is life. Thanks for the tip on the fry feeding too......

                                I wish I could isolate them.  When I have a little money again I have decided to buy a 55gal tank and then buy a couple of dividers and then move all the pink convicts into one tank.  Then I am going to get two males from my friend who has two males, and let them mate up with the three remaining females I have in the tank right now.  Once they have all mated up I will divide the tank in three.  The outer edges for each of the two breeding pair and then the middle for the grow out section.  This way I ensure I don't have worry about the water when moving them the first time.  Most likely I will need a second grow out tank, but I will tackle that when the time comes. When they are old enough to sell, I am going to offer them up for sale.  I don't see this happen for another 6 months.. we will see
