I catch a lil flak from time to time about having a bubbler in my tank. Im curious why, are they considered ugly?

Thats just it, I dont have surface agitation. I cant stand hearing my spray bar spraying the surface, and the only powerhead I have in there is about mid tank and doesn't do anything for the surface.20g mixed reef

I would invest in a Koralia Evolution 1050 or the 1400 . I suggest these because they are extremely quiet and and use 6 watts or less ....plus they have a wide flow . You can place them low in the tank and aim them upwards to create a nice little water rapid across the surface .

It's your tank. If you like the bubbler to heck what anyone else thinks. While there are many ways to provide surface agitation, you already have one that works. Next time someone criticizes your bubbler, introduce him to your social finger.
MarkWhat are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

It might help if you didn't refer to it as "Mr. Bubbles the Bubbler" lol jk
One thing to be said for bubblers is its easy to look at your tank and know that its getting aeration. I used to have my lights and my bubbler on separate power strips and sometimes the bubbler one would get knocked out of the wall. It was obvious when it wasn't working. With a powerhead, not so much.135 gal Fahaka Puffer

Most people think of bubblers and the like as a "petsmart beginner" ornament. If you use them well they are awesome. I believe wesley's comment is quite appropriate.75 planted (Being Renovated)
