Michael - I agree with the logic in that artical but it seems to be California law on lizards......

I figured it was worth the effort so I did a little searching and found this Texas Parks & Wildlife site

But it does not apply to native, nongame fish


§ 66.015. INTRODUCTION OF FISH, SHELLFISH, AND AQUATIC
PLANTS.  (a) In this section, "public water" means the bays,
estuaries, and water of the Gulf of Mexico within the jurisdiction
of the state, and the rivers, streams, creeks, bayous, reservoirs,
lakes, and portions of those waters where public access is
available without discrimination.
(b)  No person may place any species of fish, shellfish, or
aquatic plant into the public water of the state without a permit
issued by the department.
(c)  The department shall establish rules and regulations
governing the issuance of permits under this section.
(d)  Subsection (b) of this section does not apply to native,
nongame fish as defined by the commission, except in waters
designated by the commission where threatened or endangered fish
are present.
(e)  A person violates this section if fish, shellfish, or
aquatic plants the person possesses or has placed in nonpublic
water escape into the public water of the state and the person does
not hold a permit issued under this section.
(f)  An employee of the department acting at the direction of
the commission is exempt from this section.

It was posted somewhere on MarshReef and a member there....think she was a vet. brought it up in one of the meetings over there. To catch, expose to tank life/bacterias and reintroduce into native waters possible introducing bacterias/lifeforms only present in your aquarium was the concern I believe.

Interesting concept.....
    That some bacterias/lifeforms exist in my home that have never made it through the sewer systems, flood waters, rivers, bayous & bays all the way to Ocean.   I wouldn't want anything to excape from the secret lab in my basement!  

   But then, I have herd that if you take water out of the Missippi river, you cannot put it back in because it excedes the EPA standards.
I wonder what the folks over at MARSH do with their toxic waist when they do a water change ?

Ok, basically, I'm ready to get back into the tank thing.

Heres what I am working with

The 135 gallon tank, the 55 gallon tank.

I have for magnificient lighting, a 400 watt strip w/ moonlights, two 96 watt strips, all PC

Plus a couple 50 watt jobbers(I think I'd have to look and see) strips.

For filtration I have the sump and a couple cans.

Heres the deal, I want a salty and a freshy

What I'm trying to decide, is which one to make which. ...

The 135 is currently set up as a fresh water planted.. but.. it's kindof in a state of neglect. But I have all the right crap (except for one particular decoration)

So what do I say?

Let the people Speak! Fishbox, decide the fate of my tanks! I assure you your final decision will be followed and hilarity will surely ensue as I document this amazing journey into blah blah blah blah....

What would Fishbox Do?

For the SW, were you planning on doing a reef? Or a fish-only, or FOWLR? Or do you not have any plans yet?

I honestly have no plans yet.  Something simple to start whatever it is, I can only handle so many headaches at one time =)

More than likely for the fresh water I'm going to use the 55 gal and do some kind of planted since I already have all c02 and other plant-related junk.
