    Ramius' next big heist

    Ok, basically, I'm ready to get back into the tank thing.

    Heres what I am working with

    The 135 gallon tank, the 55 gallon tank.

    I have for magnificient lighting, a 400 watt strip w/ moonlights, two 96 watt strips, all PC

    Plus a couple 50 watt jobbers(I think I'd have to look and see) strips.

    For filtration I have the sump and a couple cans.

    Heres the deal, I want a salty and a freshy

    What I'm trying to decide, is which one to make which. ...

    The 135 is currently set up as a fresh water planted.. but.. it's kindof in a state of neglect. But I have all the right crap (except for one particular decoration)

    So what do I say?

    Let the people Speak! Fishbox, decide the fate of my tanks! I assure you your final decision will be followed and hilarity will surely ensue as I document this amazing journey into blah blah blah blah....

    What would Fishbox Do?

    A 135 saltwater would be interesting...
    big enough to do a couple of small sharks.

      I could definatly do that

      The 55 gal as a planted tank would fill out a bazillion times easier.

      Sharks though eh? Hmm I really haven't even considered what to stock in it. Innnnnnteresting, I could feed them  burglers.

      I'm going to do shark research right now to weigh the possibility :)

        You could collect them localy and then release them when they get too big or you want to try something else.

        There is a lot of interesting local saltwater critters and plenty of bait shops.

              So far we have 135 for the salty

              and sharks or puffer for the inhabitant.

                If I went with the 55 gal for freshwater..

                Should I do it as planted again, or try something else?

                  I wouldn't catch.....domesticate.....then release anything...I think it's actually illegal to do so.

                  I think the 135 would be best for SW after doing the little nano I have there are lots of corals you would want along with fish that require the space that are must have! but then again at the same time the cost to run something able to keep just about everything is gonna be really high!

                  In the same thought.... 135g nicely scaped with something just awesome and hundreds of tetras of the same sp. schooling up above angels crusing the mid section would be freaking awesome! Like a real life underwater forest!

                  cost wise.....55g salted/135 planted.
                  no cost that would restrict....135g salted/55g planted.


                  But if it were mine.......50+ Tropheus preferably Brichardi variant since that's my next variant to keep and if it works a small colony of Petrochromis to boot in the 135g. The 55g.....would be for my L046 zebra plecos which I would source another 5 or so to add to my little colony or have it salted or even use it as a fry grow out tanks/female nursery.

                      For the SW, were you planning on doing a reef? Or a fish-only, or FOWLR? Or do you not have any plans yet?

                          Not illegal to keep one in an aquarium, as far as I know, but illegal to take ANYTHING home and release it later.

                            I know it's illegal to release non native fish in the local waters, but this is the firt I've herd about catch & release being a no no, If you can give me a link to that law, I'd like to mark it for future refference.

                              It is illegal to release native wildlife without a permit. Even wildlife rehabilitators require special permits and licenses to operate.
