Re: Looking for ideas on multi-store fish shopping trip...
If you are looking for inexpensive then Fish Land on Westheimer / Synott, is a good place to go, I have always loved their prices compared to anyone else... Problem is that you never know what he has in stock until you get there and see what is in the store. T&T Fish and Reptile is just down the street, and right around the corner from there is Fish-N-Pets unlimited. I have been to the first two and I have been impressed with what they have at the time. Problem of course is that I am a CA/SA cichlid fan not as much African. There is City Pets further into Town and Xtreme fish on Bellaire.
I dont know when you are thinking about coming to town, but if all goes well I will have a couple of new tanks this weekend. You are more than welcome to bring the fish to my place in Katy, let them "warm up" (basically stabilize the plastic bags in a tank for an hour, then roll each bag up in newspaper for the ride (if its dark inside the fish will be more dormant, and the temp will not swing as much if you put a coat of news paper around them. In Denmark where I am from this is how you make sure that your fish made it home, in the snow, while biking from the fish store. All I could do back then was put them in my backpack and then race home (granted only about 4 miles from my house but in the snow it was cold.)
