  • Tank plumbing/circulation question...

I'm putting the bulkheads back in my big tank- it has 4 along the bottom of the tank, and I run two 2260s.

I didn't take note when I took it apart, and I'm not sure which way I should have the water circulating (or if it matters?)

Should the intake (water leaving the tank) be in the center and the returns be on the outside (thus a clockwise circulation on the left side of the tank, and a counterclockwise on the right), or the other way around, with the water leaving the tank through the outer bulkheads, and returning through the center?

I'm thinking the return shoudl be in the center, so it can help keep the surface of the water moving. Even with several powerheads, the tank is big enough that I think more movement from the center would be better (?)

Let me know your thoughts... I'll check back when I'm done scraping the old silicone off

I'd pull from the ends and return to the center. Just my $.02.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
