I also remember Tropical fish World on S. Post Oak, Aquarama (one on Hillcroft and one on S. Loop Frwy near Telephone), and Aquamart, back when they were on Hillcroft only 1 block from Aquarama! Those were nice stores.

I have been in the hobby since I was a child. As a teen, I was already making purchases from mail order pet supply catalogs, way before they days of the internet. In fact my first purchase was the System 3 undergravel filter which can be used reverse flow or traditional style. I still use it in my 55 gallon aquarium.
I don't think they have been available for many years now.

I remember the Aquaramas and Aquamart, I lived in SW Houston in the 70's.  There was a really nice little place in a strip center on Bissonet and Renwick or Rampart, it was in an inside corner, really nice clean store.  Don't remember a tropaquarium but I do remember my dad taking me to a fish store that was in an old train car.  Now that's probably really going to show my age.......

Inwood Forest is pretty bad....Hot, stinks, dead fish or sick. The price on fish is good if you get to them before they are in the tank too long.

They have killer prices on tank combos and their Tropheus Dub fry was like $4ea.!!!


Me and my pops use to go there all the time before what I think the little brother took over.

I saw Houston Aquatics was mentioned. It is VERY close to downtown (in the Heights). It all depends on where you live and where you are willing to dirve to, I guess.

I saw like two other fish stores on Shepard from my house....I45 to ADG....don't remember what the names were though think it was near 43rd or something.

There is one at W. Bellfort & Fondren to. I believe its call Fondren fish & pets.

Aquarama closed a little over a year ago I think. Interestingly enough, I worked for Eric (the owner of Aquamart) in a different pet store after Aquamart closed. He's a really nice guy. I think he is the store manager of one of those chain pet stores now by by Astrodome --err whatever it is called now...

I been to both of them....

The one of Griggs and OST is pretty cool.

The one on Fondren and West Bellfort have cheap feeders and tanks



There is another one of Bellfort close to Hobby Airport.
