Petsmart Price Match

I ran across a thread somewhere long ago that debated whether PetsMart would honor the online prices in the store. I emailed PetsMart customer service to inquire about the price matching policy. They returned the email and told me that they would price match the online price in the store. This weekend I tried the policy out and saved $16 on HOB filter replacements. Just go online and print the web price and take it to the store. It was much easier than I expected.

I prefer to use LFS, but sometimes you just have to run inside PetsMart for a quick purchase.

Thought I would share in case anyone didn't know about this policy.

Yeah, print the advertised price online and they will match it....or you can go to City Pets and pay much less then that without an ad. There are a few LFS that can still beat the Big chain store prices.

Its PETCO that doesn't honor their online prices unless something has changed since my last inquiry.  I've gotten some BS answer the few times that I asked....LOL.  They acted like it was an almost totally separate entity or something.

I took a Drs. Foster and Smith catalogue that just happened to have the 4 things I needed on sale into Petsmart and they honored the prices. Got great prices and didn't have to pay shipping.

I tried to get a manager to cut me a deal on a tank, but was told the managers had no authority to cut deals, guess it depends on which store your in and who's on duty. Way to go on the Foster and Smith thing though, good thinking.

Its PETCO that doesn't honor their online prices unless something has changed since my last inquiry.  I've gotten some BS answer the few times that I asked....LOL.  They acted like it was an almost totally separate entity or something.

The one out on 45 and 646 or the one on Bay Area?  I went to the one looking at an Emporer 400 that they had online for like $47 and they told me that they wouldn't honor it because it supposedly came out to the same price with shipping.  Well they had free shipping running at the time online.

The Petsmart on-line price deal helped me buy the biggest 50 lb bucket of Instant Ocean salt.  Just remember to take the print out with you and ask for the manager.

The Drs Foster deal is a new one for me.  Have to try that one out sometime.

bay area.  The employees there arent too bright, you can probably get away with just about anything.

Thanks for the heads up......LOL.  That's almost as good as the savage burn I ran on Walmart for some Glofish for the price of Rosie Barbs.  Nothing like $.27 vs. $6.99.....but you didn't hear that from me.

Just thought I'd bring this useful old thread back up. I also took a ad from dr.fosterssmith and they honored it. I bought a 400w hydor heater for $29, petsmart price was $40, So I saved $11. A employee said they couldn't price match, but I called the manager, and she found that competion price match was on the computer.

No LFS is around me so petsmart/petco is my only option, unless I want to spend $10 in gas and waste my time driving to LFS.

The one on 610 and 59, where David Abeles works, would not honor Drs Foster and Smith, nor Big A'ls online, but WILL honor their own online prices. That's ok since I can get Penguin 350 Biowheel filters from Petsmart this way for 26.99 instead of 47.99. Some of the cashiers there already anticipate when I come in with a stack of papers and call their manager in advance!

I bought the biggest bucket of Instant Ocean (50 lbs I think) about 3 years ago from Petsmart.  I printed out their internet price and asked for the manager.......no problem.  I saved lots of money.  I buy from Drs Foster, That Pet Place and several other on-line places and the freight charges would have killed me.

I also use the internet pricing with Petsmart, no problem, just bring the print out and ask for the Mgr.  Mag 350  Petsmart  $about $149.95 there internet, $88.95
