  • OUCH

I just found out the other night, that brichardi have some nice sharp little teeth. The little boogers don't like you messing around in their tank when they got fry swimming around,  I was minding my own beeswax just doing some simple aquascaping and wham......I got tagged, and it wasn't no get out of here little thump either, it was more like "hey if I catch your fat a@@ fingers in here again, I'll rip em off your Freakin hand" kinda thump......Man I'd hate to be a fish they don't like and be in there with them......

When my pink convicts spawned last month, and the fry hatched I noticed I had made a major mistake in building the spawn house for the convicts...  This was causing all the fry to fall down in an area where Mom could not see them and therefore she was not looking after them.  I had to move a small piece of slate which I had used as a floor in the spawn area (Next spawn house will not have a slate floor.. the convicts puts the eggs on the ceiling every time so far)  Now the 3 minutes it took me to GENTLY move the slate, I got attacked over and over... man did I get the shock of my life when that happen the first time.   As soon as I had the slate moved she found the young and started to move them and clean them up..  Wow was she happy when she found them.

              CichlidFan,
I know what you mean, my brichardi parents attack the turkey baster when I am feeding the fry. They thump it pretty hard.

I have 4 different batches of Brichardi fry, the latest one is from July 14th. Was wondering if you would be interested in exchanging fry to mix up the bloodlines?

As long as it could be done without blood shed......

Seriously, I think that's a great idea, but let's wait till our largest fry are at least an inch long ...okay?

I used to move my catfish by hand until one day I had to move a 5" blue botea - I found out the hard way they have large curly tusks like a wild boar and no mater how loud yout scream and much you jump up and down and fling your hand right and left, they don't come off.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
