Mexican Beach pebbles for tank

I just went to a landscaping shop and got me some big and medium mexican beach pebbles for the mbuna tank, I am soaking them in water and going to boil them is that enough ?

That should be fine. If there pebbles that should work however some rocks may expode when boiling

They are metamorphic rocks and non porous. There is no need to boil them. Just rinse with the garden hose.

so far i boiled all of them and there were no explosions, but it will be interesting to get one that explodes ;-).


So if this are metamorphic rocks and there is no need to boiled them, I still went and bought them, because I have a bunch of them in my backyard but since I have used some weed killers, I was not going to risk it with the fish.

I was also intrigued and I had to go in a google frenzy, but it seems and this what I found that it appears any ROCK can explode because of pockets of air the rocks have. Porous rocks might be easier to make them explode, but it seems that people have had kitchen damage doing so.

Well I boiled them outside on a turkey fryer pot, so not really thinking on the explosion but because of the volume but well there was no explosion.
