I don't know if this thread fits here or not, I just wanted to get as many folks to see it as possible.
I work for USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service and I've been contacted by a watershed protection group about a pollution study in a bayou in Chambers County and I was given a short presentation about the study, what pollutants are being monitored (turbidity, bacteria, excess nutrients, etc... ), how much excess pollutants exists there, etc...
The woman giving the presentation asked if I knew anyone local (the Greater Houston Area) who would be interested in similar information. So, I figured I'd bring the subject here since many of us like to do local collections of plants, fish, and inverts in local waterways and water bodies.
Would anyone be interested in hearing about pollutants in and around Harris County bayous, watersheds, water bodies, etc... and get info on how to address pollution concerns? Would the local clubs be interested in sponsoring/hosting such a meeting? (I can only partly speak for HAAPS...but I think we would be interested in this. )
If there is any interest, I can set up a meeting date with the woman, even may be able to get some other agencies involved if there is a big interest. Please reply here if this interests you and please share any preference for a preferred time window if you have one.
Thanks,
Dave
