Where can I get lava rock red or black of different sizes ranging from 1lb to like 50lbs

Rocks that weigh that much or bulk. Try hitting a rock yard, nursery(plants), lowes or home depot should have bags of them. Rock yard maybe cheapest way though.

does anyone know how much it is a lb?

Not off the top of my head, but I think it was one of the more expensive stones. Its worth the trip, because they have so many options on hand you might find something you like even better. They even had petrified wood. NEPCO is very friendly to the aquarist.
