  • Shells for shell dwellers

    Cichlidbreeding.com

I dont know if anyone has ordered from these people.  I just ordered 60 shells for shell dwellers from these people for a little more than $20, getting kinds that closely resemble  Neothauma Shells.  They do sell  Neothauma but they are out, and they cost 2.50 a shell vs 30-38 cent a shell.

Did you get the bablyonian or whatever it's called?

I saw those too and settled on getting them but was able to find more Neothaumas for a great deal. They also make excellent caves for all types of fish breeding and such.

        Nice order!

These are what I saw and look to be similar in shape to Neothaumas....

Has anyone looked at the novelty shops on the seawall in Galveston ?
They used to have an extremely large selection of sea shells.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

            Re: Shells for shell dwellers

Cichlidbreeding offers shells for like $0.20-0.30 ea which is really cheap and probably cheaper then the drive out to G-town.

I was in Cancun/Playa del Carmen last week and looked for shells in the shops and even when snorkeling and found nothing.

Fish RanchII does have a few buckets of shells and last time I was there I found tons of turbos and whale eyes.....also scored a few Neothaumas that were in the display tanks for the cost of the regular shells  they were like $0.40 ea if I remember right.

                  Re: Shells for shell dwellers

I have checked just about every cost plus market in Houston and all of them say that they don't carry the shells themselves anymore.

                    Re: Shells for shell dwellers

Got the order in today :)  They are some nice shells :)
When the tank is up and running I will get some pictures posted.
It will be about 4 weeks from before the fish that are going to live there perm are going into the tank.  I am going to make sure the tank cycles first using my 15 pink convict fry as the ammonia makers.

                        Re: Shells for shell dwellers

I went to the one on champions/1960, woodlands and the one on richmond and they all told me it was taken off the shelves. I did find tons of websites offering them but since I had to order them I went ahead and ordered Neothaumas.

If you are willing to settle for species like ;"large, small, and seashell" you can get them at "Micheals" and other hobby shops. That it what I used for salt water hermit crabs.
