  • Blue ram eggs

It's a second post, may be somebody will see it here sooner:

I just got them yesterday in Fishgallery and now they are fanning eggs on a rock I used to hold new driftwood. It's right in the middle of the tank, but hidden behind some Java Moss.
Tank has corries, pearl gouramies(!), cardinals, glowlight tetras, and ottos in it.
I am affraid to move the rock, but doubt they have a chance in a community tank, although so far they manage to keep everybody away (guess the community didn't notice the eggs yet).

Would it be better to try to move the rock tommorrow (will need to buy some small tank), or separate pearls with some devider, or just leave it as it is?

PS. Male is going very territorial now, and I have cockonut cave and two driftwoods and plants for hiding places => is there a chance?

    Re: Blue ram eggs

oh wow lucky you. Very nice fish to try and breed. Ide definatly try and save them if you can.

Ide try a divider asap, and maybe you can even find someone with a small spare tank and move the other fish out of there for a while till they hatch and can be moved.

    best of luck

      Re: Blue ram eggs

I've put male gourami in a small net "breeder" for now (he has a bit of an "alpha" personality). Will see what I can do tommorrow.
      Thank you
      AK

      Edited:
I have a 5 gal bottle I could cut and use as a make shift tank with an airstone and heater. But I am not sure I can move the stone without loosing eggs. and it would really piss off the couple too (assuming they need to be involved)

Absolutely awesome :)  They where the last fish for me to breed for me while I grew up in Denmark, before moving to the USA.  This was 22+ yrs ago.

I would leave them all alone for now.  The Ram will beat everyone back for a while.
I would wait to see... when the fry starts moving I am pretty sure the parents will move the young to the corner of the tank, at this point put in the divider and separate them from the others.
