How do clean shells?

My sister collected LOTS of shells from galveston a couple days ago. I was wondering what needed to be done to clean the shells so they would be safe to put into my tank? I have rinsed them and scrubed some with a toothbrush. Is that enough or do i need to soak them insomethign to remove and salt residue?

Make sure the spiral up top is not too spiraly cause the  fish can and will force themselves deep in and die.

I just boil mine after a good cleaning to kill off any foreign bacteria.

alright i was thinking of boiling them....
