Do you have plants in there? That's how snails usually hijack their way into tanks. :)

            • Yeah, there is a plant we got at the auction last week in there. I'm trying to get the pic to upload but i keep getting error codes I resized it from 3.8m to 138k but still won't upload. I got a test kit today and tested the 10 gallon and it was at the nitrite spike, ammonia is at 0. Testing my tank I have high nitrites also but i'm wondering if that is because of over stocking?

Your nitrite spike is probably due to an immature cycle. The plant should use up some of it, but I also like to dose Stability with daily water changes. Are the fish acting ok?

                • Oh, and as far as the snails are concerned, I'd get 'em under control now, especially if they are MTS (malaysian trumpet snails). Some people dose CopperSafe for a week or so to kill the snails, others like to get assassin snails to eat the snails. :)

                  • I actually got an assassin snail last night. I'll add it in.

Cool! They're fun to watch when they actually get a hold of a snail.

                      • In our 14 gallon, our fish are acting normal. We not endlers last night and we have them sitting in the breeders net, so our Ram or Gourami doesn't eat them and all of our fish are fascinated by them in there. We also bought a new plant today and of course our Gourami has taken over like normal.

When would it be good to move the Zebra's back over to our daughter's 10 gallon? Her tank water is pretty much like ours. High in Nitrite but her's is also high in Nitrate. We added a lot more plants to her tank this morning and all of the "filter juice" or Mulm that we got last night as well from lookslater so it should be getting better soon.......?

                        • Should have dumped the nasty water in last night.

Y'all should be moving along either way though and it's just a matter of time from here.

                          • Agreed. The nitrate can be taken care of with a big WC, but I'd let the mulm and the plants do their thing for a couple days and you should see your nitrite/nitrate numbers improving from here out. Maybe put the guppies in the 10 for now, they are cast iron fish for the most part and it'll keep them out of the way?

                            • I added the magic juice last night before bed and this morning put in 2 25w 6500k bulbs with 9 new plants so a total of 10 now. I have kept the endless in my breeder net over night in my tank so the ram wouldn't have a snack at night but the gourami tried to just into the breeder I heard him splash last night then he was trying to eat through the net. We are out for lunch now but will move the endlers today and look at 3 or so zebras every other day til all moved.

                              • Sounds like a good plan, moving things over slowly will help your bacteria build up.
