painted glass tetras often dont survive long since the 'painting' isnt really good for them. def get a few more cories if you can, they school in weird figure 8 patterns which is cool to see. they also like good water movement. i have never seen any female rams spar, you may have had juvie males

Once a day should be adequete, just be sure they are all eaten in 3-5 minutes with no leftovers and you should be great

I'd dismiss the idea of Corydoras and Plecostomus as a 'clean up crew'. Just watch them eat and make certain they have access to something. If the other fish devour all the bloodworms, try getting some sinking discs for the corydoras. It will take a bit of trial and error, but you'll get the feel for it in short order. Look for full stomachs or a malnourished look. There should be a happy medium you can reach that feeds them, but not to the point of gorging and spiking your parameters with all the uneaten food to starving the fish. I know corydoras also are active at night, so you could be successful putting in half a cube before shutting off the lights. Try and let them thaw in a cup of aquarium water as if they are frozen it takes longer for them to sink and become accessible to them. A cory zipping up to grab food at the surface (not gulping a breath, thats normal) is a sure sign they are hungry. I do notice that most corydoras are always moving and searching for food, so its a bit harder to tell just by behavior alone.

It's taking 15-20 min for all the bloodworms to be eaten because the ram eats first then the other move in after it is done. I havent seen it chase them but they all wait.

Yeah, as far as the cory's diet goes, it's a pretty common misconception that they can be happy just eating leftovers and algae, that's just a kind of bonus if they do it. Here's a good discussion I found on the topic...

Thanks for the link it was very informative. I will try and get pellets and wafers today and look for another cory so that I have three and they will feel more like a school than a pair.

i feed mine thawed bloodworms and sinking omega shrimp pellets. they would probably like chopped earthworm too if it was small pieces. as i recall, they do like worms as a natural food source. i have never seen them go after algae tabs if there is something else available, i wouldnt be surprised if they are mainly carnivores
