  • Hook up the filters you plan on running in the 29G on the 14G while it's still got fish. Run them for at least a good two weeks and then you can swap tanks fairly easily.

    • The 29 will use the ac30 from the 14 till I can buy an ac50 in a month or so. Can I just move everything over if the filter is cycled?

      • Everything is moved over and acclimating nicely. Current stock in the new 29g is 5 corys, 3 rams, 2 dwarf gouramis, 4 nickel-quarter sized angels, and 2 creamcicle mollies.

            • Keep an eye out on your water parameters, sometimes you will have a bacteria bloom/spike from the change over since other parts of the tank will be disturbed.

(substrate/decor/anything that touches water will host beneficial bacteria)

              • Will do. I have to buy a new light/hood for it I just screwed the hood from my old tank to a 1/4" piece of plywood with holes cut for filter/wires and light. • I don't think I would put holey rock in with your current livestock. It is a hunk of limestone and will tend to raise the hardness of your water. Which the mollies might like but your SA origin stock would probably rather do without.

                  • Oh, if you are adding new substrate it is better to put it in first and cap with the old stuff not the other way around. If you have already done it in reverse, just make sure it is well mixed.

                    • Not adding anymore to this for awhile I think it's ok. For my old tank the 14 I will put some flourite in before I move everything else over. The 30g breeder shrimp tank I have to build a stand for because it is 1 1/2" too big for where I have been keeping my tanks. Then I have to get the aquasoil from adg, a double sponge filter, and more plants before I think about adding any livestock.

                      • Put some flourite in my old 4 that I am moving my daughter up to. After washing it for 2 hours it has a slight cloudiness but not too bad. I can see all the way through the tank from all four sides. Is it ok to move my stock over to this?
