so my only option is to buy the 2 adult males that are in a tank together. They've never fought or anything so it should be okay. We'll see. I may go pick those up on Saturday. As far as the second type, the WC adults are basically priced at 80 bucks a pop, so I'm going to go with the F1 juvies instead.

With the light fixture--have you attempted to see if the 48" will fit diagonally over the tank? That tank seems to have some good depth to it. It would look odd, but it would hiden by the full canopy. As long as the lighting into the tank looked ok doing it that way you might be good to go.

of course a creative and inexpensive possible solution might be SHO spiral compacts (i have been wanting to see these in action but they are a little hot), T2VHO fixtures since some can pivot the reflector and are short enough to mount front to back, and/or some of the plant friendly LEDS that are showing up. I have been looking at the T2HO and TMC GrowRays sold on AAP to use in my moms eclipse 12:

Geez, rough crowd. Guys if you have been following the thread aquabee has shown us/told us...

1. The basic layout of the tank, somewhat planted with dither fish.
2. That she has been unable to get the two types of showcase fish she wants as they have sold out at the distributor level at the moment.
3. That she is incredibly busy for March, but her schedule is freeing up a little in April.
4. That she is having issues mounting her intended lights.

So I would put to y'all impatient types that it would be difficult to take pictures of fish that are not there yet, in a dark tank when she is not home and working 24 shifts...

That being said--I as well look forward to seeing new pics of her new set up--once she has new and improved things to show us.

Yeesh. Thanks Harry! I was just about to say, when y'all start workin 90 hour work weeks in a pediatric intensive care unit with 24 hour straight shifts every 5th night, then you can start complaining! Lol! However, I must say I'm flattered that people even care to see updates! So thanks. :)

I actually did get the 36" twin T5 HO yesterday and it worked out ok. I had tried the 48" positioned diagonally; it didn't fit cuz of the way the canopy is done. Next purchase will be 2 24" stunner strips that I'll use when I'm enjoying the tank; the T5 is just so I can have an actual photoperiod to support my plants.

Still having difficulty finding the fish I want, but the game plan is sorta coming together slowly. I may have to modify what I originally wanted to do but we'll see what pans out!

I worked on the tank a lot last night at the expense of my sleep. Added more plants that I got from Tim, and moved the scape around a bit. Also hooked up the inline heater, traded out the powerheads for more gentle circulation. Will post more pics by the weekend. pH is slowly trending down, now at about 7.4. Depending on where it stabilizes, I may end up adding more peat.
