PICS! 105 custom tall: aquabee's exit from the world of nanos
Rare fish are usually really amazing looking... just saying
Agreed. I'd keep 'em if I found amazing looking ones, which I did, and those are going to be my showcase fish. What I was saying is that I didn't understand why people kept rare fish just for the reason that they're rare and nobody else has 'em.
The tank looks awesome, Bee!! I love the way the scape is, also- your dad can come lean on my tanks too, with that magic hip. And you weren't kidding about those rummynose, they look fantastic.
Congrats on moving on up! Can't wait to see the new kids after they arrive and get settled in to the tank!
Magic hip... that's awesome!! I'm going to tell my dad that. And yeah, I think I need to get 20 more rummies for this tank! They're hilarious. I changed the flow pattern in the tank today and they just got so confused. Too funny to watch. It'll be interesting to see what they do when I add in larger more "intimidating" fish. )
Yeah, I'm so glad you got away from those no good nano tanks
Never! Nanos are frikkin awesome and you know it. I remember the first time you walked into my apartment, to pick up those ABNLFP and you saw the nano right away on the countertop and you said, "whoaaaaaaaa what is thaaaaaaattttt" so say all you want, my friend! I know you secretly love nanos. You're a closet nano-lover!!!
I'm not the one exiting nanos here, but to indulge you, there is plenty wrong with nanos. For one, you can barely put 10 Trophs in there, 11 tops, and fewer still with Petros. Two, you can barely see them. Three, getting them into equilibrium and to stay there is harder than one might expect. Four, expense per gallon is borderline idiotic. In other words, nanos are what people like Derek Zoolander have
Expense per gallon?!! WHO even calculates that?! Also, obtaining and maintaining equilibrium in a nano = mad skillz yo. If you're not up for the challenge, we understand.
And excuse me... Derek Zoolander? Really? You went there?
So, I got a twin T5 HO today (48") and *argh* the canopy won't fit over it because part of it sits on the glass on either side. I might have to get a 36" and see how that looks. Those Giesmann bulbs are frikkin bright though. I'm missing the shimmer that you get with LEDs though. :( I want to go with them but I dunno if those will keep my vals alive. I don't need them to propagate or go crazy or anything, just want them to look good and be alive.
Take the ends off of the fixture or disassemble it and mount it in the canopy!
Was considering that. I probably can't mount it cuz it's still too long. I also don't know if I like the colors of the light. The Midday bulb gives way too much of a yellow hue but my fish look best with the blue/purple hues, so I may do the Aquaflora (which I have on there right now for the plants) and the Aquablue Plus (also for plants but has an actinic element to it too).
