Great point Sunny! Sasha figured that out and has been moving the thermometer around actually double checking all the tanks once she realized that

      • I use one of those point and click infrared temp gauges so i can get a reading on tank, sump, and anything I want to.

        • Would you believe it if I said I don't use a heater in my 280?

Yeah you told me that... all the pumps keep it right around 80, no?

Absolutely. Don't have fancy infrared gadgets but I do have 2 different thermometers on 2 sides of the tank. Both are reading the same temp so I'm fairly ok with relying on those numbers.

Most blue drops used in anti-parasitic treatments are methylene blue. Did it stain your tank/decor/silicone at all?

                • Just bought 2 large bottles of Kordon 100% organic Ich Attack and dosed the tank after removing the Purigen from the canister. I'll dose twice daily for a week, and then taper off to once daily. Best thing about this stuff is it doesn't kill off your biological filter, you don't have to do water changes except at the very end of treatment, and it's plant/invert safe. I feel better now. Time for bed!

                    • I feel your pain. My Powder blue had gotten Ich like I counted 5 spots but they went away. Now my angel has it but both are eating great while they had it. So as long as they are eating its a good sign.

                        • I hate using meth blue... I hate blue silicone.

This sucks you have to always go through this B but I guess it's been a great learning experience for you. Probably try upping the salt dose 1.5x maybe 3tbsp/20gal. Make sure all your flow is directed upwards for more surface agitation.

Now that I think about it, I only used half dosage because my Mbu is scale less. I imagine it could've been way worse had I have used a full dose.

I dont trust most thermometers... the closest one to be accurate have been the stick on tape ones. I have three glass floating thermometers and they read a few degrees off with one being about 8f off from the other. My coralife digital is close most of the time but it's finicky, it'll throw wild numbers on occasions.

Raytech infared FTW. Harbor freight sells some cheaper ones.
