I feel your pain. My Powder blue had gotten Ich like I counted 5 spots but they went away. Now my angel has it but both are eating great while they had it. So as long as they are eating its a good sign.

Thanks Brian. 4 of the geos are eating, but one is not. She stays in the top right corner but she's still active and chases off anyone who comes near. We'll see how she does I guess... at least she's not too lethargic yet. I'm glad your powder blue and angel are doing all right!

This sucks you have to always go through this B but I guess it's been a great learning experience for you. Probably try upping the salt dose 1.5x maybe 3tbsp/20gal. Make sure all your flow is directed upwards for more surface agitation.

It has been a great learning experience because the only time I had to deal with ich in the last 21 years was a couple months ago, with my nano getting sick. That time I had just upped the temp and aeration and salt, and that seemed to work great. No recurrence there. So I didn't know about Kordon's organic Ich Attack before, but people seem to like the results they get with it.

As far as aeration, I have a bubble wall in there right now that moves water bottom to surface really well. Plus the insane return from the 2260. No one's panting or looking too poorly in that regard. I'll consider upping the salt, but those plants will hate me for it.

I dont trust most thermometers... the closest one to be accurate have been the stick on tape ones. I have three glass floating thermometers and they read a few degrees off with one being about 8f off from the other. My coralife digital is close most of the time but it's finicky, it'll throw wild numbers on occasions.

Raytech infared FTW. Harbor freight sells some cheaper ones.

Just by comparing tanks and going by the feel of the water temp, I know my tank is sitting in the 80s. With 2 thermometers positioned at opposite ends and one on the bottom of the tank and the other at the top, both reading essentially the same temp at 84, I'm ok with trusting that for now. Even if it's not a completely accurate/exact measurement of the current temperature, it'll at least give me a range and also let me know that the temp isn't fluctuating wildly. I think that's the crucial part of it.

That's the only thing I use mine for now too... to see how much it raises/drops with waterchanges. disregard the actual numbers on there.

Yup. Two 2262, K7, K8 and a Mag 18 generate quite a bit if heat

For geos with ich I've always done 1tablespoon of powdered Epson salt per 10g. Of tank volume with organic rid ich, and raise temp to 86-88 degrees, use circ pumps aimed at surface for gas Exchange.

Usually goes away after a week, but don't stop treatment until Atleast 7 days after you stop seeing signs of ich, it can and usually does come back.

The powdered Epson salt is more used for offsetting neotropical bloat which is basically the sa version of Tropheus getting bloat.

Geos are very susceptible to getting this disease and it usually comes while fighting another disease that is lowering their immune system.

Thanks Tater, it's reassuring to hear about your personal experience. I'd already done everything you recommended so now it's just watchful waiting. This morning the sicker of the 2 affected geos didn't eat at all but tonight she took a little frozen mysis/brine/spirulina. Just 1 or 2 bites, but that was good enough for now I think.

one thing thats worked in the ast for me is to get table shrimp, and baby spinich leaves.
Blend like 5-10 shrimp with 10 or so spinach leaves, and add 3-5ml of kents garlic xtreme and freeze it flat wrapped in seran wrap.
just break off little chunks like shrimp mix.
