      • The plan is to do a huge WC next weekend to get rid of most of the salt and copper, then add fresh carbon to help remove as much copper as possible, and add the Purigen back in. And then I'll add in some swords. I'm hoping that'll spark a spawn!

        • I don't think carbon will take out copper like it won't take out salt, but I could be wrong. You just might have to do several WC to get it out gradually.

I read that only fresh activated carbon less than 5 days wet will help to absorb some of the copper. That's why you have to take out fresh carbon before medicating. But you're right, most of it will have to be taken out by water changes.

            • I thought you had to polish filter out copper?

Hahaha I know... it's a good thing I pressed all the rocks down so they were already resting on the glass. They dug out every single frikkin grain of sand til there's nothing left around the rocks!

I thought the way to remove copper is to micron filter it out, like pass the water through stupid fine padding.

Never heard that before but it's hard to imagine that even the finest of polishing filter pads would get out a molecule as tiny as copper. The Copper Safe bottle actually says to add fresh carbon to assist in removing copper. I'm sure it doesn't get all of it though. I'll ask my dad tomorrow.

                                not really.
almost as common as convicts IMO and trying to find pure HRP would be a bit of a task without trusting the seller.
