  • Death on the tank!

yesterday while i was feeding i notice that i had a fish missing. in fact, my best looking male endler was missing. i found only half of the body, head and tail had been eaten. i do think it was my female peacock as it is the biggest fish i have there other than the angels. and angels have a small mouth to even try it. so the questions is does my peacock is starting to be to aggressive for me tank or what should i do? she is about 3-3.5 inch and the labs are about 1.5inch

I think you have an odd enough mix in that tank that anything could go wrong at any point. Angels look like they have small mouths but they can extend their jaws to have quite large mouths. I wouldn't underestimate your peacock, labs, or angels when it comes to interacting with endlers, which are virtually defenseless and not that fast either.

i didnt know angels can open it that big, i learn something new. i did remove the other endler and place him on the 10. should i remove my oto cat also or leave him there? until May i have to work it out with them been in the same tank or sale them. the labs and the peacock should be good together as both from lake malawi (if i am correct). also they dont mess with the angels as of yet. they have their fins perfectly fine.

any of those fish could have been the culprit.

btw, how are you able to tell that the peacock is a sunshine? I might be able to take it off your hands.

Lmk... the female I got is huge, this might work better for my hybrid male.

Kinda iffy on the I.D. though since most females look identical.

Angels can be vicious. The angels fighting each other ....that is a tough thing to watch. I have actually had one angel tear the lips and bottom jaw off the other. The onlything i would recommend putting with endlers ...would be more endlers, shrimp, and/ or plecos..... But even some plecos like protein every now and then and can easily suck up babies.

I'd get the oto out of there, too. If you don't have a place for it, I'll take it.

I made the huge mistake of putting otos in my cichlid tank a long time ago. They didn't make it through the night. So I know peacocks and labs will attack otos.

I will take all your fish for free and rehome them, it's clear that they have severed their own head to escape the life with you.
