Hey Rob, what kind of turnover rate as far as filtration do you have in your Dat tanks? Looking at these guys while they're in the floating nursery it doesn't look like they can handle much flow.

Right now only 2 fx5s running on it but i had 2 maxi jet 1200s and they did fine. Hopefully adding another 1700 gph in a few weeks. The bigger ones dont seem to mind the current and sometimes swim in it. Your monis just arent strong enoigh yet

also, I tried reading up on the barring thing but man that site over there is jumbled with a bunch of crap.

The tanks I've seen were full of misbars and from my knowledge of other species misbars is not a quality trait. These were the only two I seen with nice clean 3bars and only two that were not muddy looking. How does the bar thing play with these?

The misbar/ oddball thing with dats is just personal preference but 3 symmetrical bars is better ( poor mans st). Dats change color depending on mood so yours will probably sometes be muddy. I have one that looked clean for a total of 8 hours and has been muddy ever since while one of mine always has nice clean bars. The color changing is known as stability, brown with faded bars=unstable, colors like yours have right now=stable

Poor man's anything sounds like it's a keeper!

I got a double pack of jumbo mysis in the freezer that I feed my trophs so I'll be using that along with the NLS mix, hopefully the skinny one regains it's health cause I like him.

He should be fine doesnt look too bad. I thought about another monster for you to help with those pesky trophs. South american lungfish, sedentary so no need for lots of space and looks like a turd

I ran across a thread asking about them over on MFK, thread was if a SAL and MBU would work together and there's a guy getting all butt hurt about it.

I don't think they would work that great together seeing as the MBU gets curious with slow or stagnant flesh on the substrate.

Took a little vid of them, towards the end I tried to show their size in comparison to the rest of the tank.

I'm hoping to get an Tanganyikan Elipsifer for the tank so that might help with the fry problem.

Nice vid, yea the skinny one needs to eat alot but the other is pretty active already. I see what you mean by the current, i think with a little size on them they'll be fine.
