What about Demasoni? One of the dwarf Pikes would be really cool.

Only a 500? If you're gonna go big, go BIG! Being the predominant Discus guy on here I'd say you'd need something in the area of 1,500 to 1,700 gallons to keep the Discus happy and the plants growing.

A 1500 would be nice. But a 500 will fit perfectly in my living room wall.

Will probably turn it into an all male guppie/community tank.

What featherfins would work in a 30 gallon tank? Most of the ones that I know of get 5"+ and require a good amount of swimming room. I could see possibly putting some small Xenos in there, but I would get a larger footprint to try that as well.

If you have all those shells, go ahead and do a shell-dweller tank.

Well I have found some small featherfins and will need growing out before they are able to fend for themselves out in the bigger tanks but it was just a thought.

I thought about shellies but none really spark my interest like the multis or occies did and I have those already....maybe similis but those are somewhat similar to multis.

Really thinking about the community tank since all my tanks now are pretty much species only. Have an idea of the inhabitants already........red line sharks, guppies, dwarf gourami's, ocats, cories, large group of ember tetras, and who knows.

The fiance is still pushing for goldfish though.

You mean crayfish? I don't really like those unless it involves about 40lbs of it's friends and a pot. Dwarf crays are cool but then I could go with a 5-10g.

What larger tank would you put the featherfins in? The front tank?

I don't know much about them, and it's just a suggestion, but there are a few species of killies from the Rift lakes that have a ton of personality and can hold their own against all the cichlids and such. I think they get kind of big, but "big" for killies can't be too horrible. And they're usually okay with smaller numbers, so might fit into a 30. Like I said, I don't really know anything about them, but since you said killies... :)
