South American Leaf Fish tank.... great and can keep a small group. They eat a ton of guppies though....

There are several species of fw eel that stay in full fw and seeing how most eels act in a community tank or in a tank period, IMO a 10g would work as long as water params are kept consistent.

I find the "caresheet" requirements of most fish to be a bit off the wall. Some fish will find refuge in a particular area of a large tank and stay within that vicinity so why not reduce the size to those quarters. Water changes on the other hand I am religious with and when taken into consideration it would in a way replicate a large body of water since the nutrients that accumulate would never rise to levels of a dirty tank.

I know my MBU has a suggest 1000g tank requirement but in my 180g he stays in his little area of the tank and never wanders from there which would probably come out to be about 40g worth of tank space.

I saw those and at FG too but I have no idea about them, I've seen them several occasions but never really looked into them. If I were to tell you anything about them I would be quoting information found on the internet.

At this point I will say, Google is your friend.

Leaf fish would be frikkin badass. I wanted those for my 105 so bad... might still get 'em but there's a lot of flow so they might not do so well. Ever seen one extend its jaw?? It's nucking futs!

Why not do leaf fish then? They stay relatively small and don't move around too much.

Leaf fish are boring. They stay still and only move when its time to eat.
