Ive been freaking out since I got home. This came out of nowhere and I have not done anything to the tank besides food in 4-5 days. Super weird

      It happens. Murphy s law.

Get an ammonia test kit. I test my tap water before water changes...

if the problem is ammonia doing a water change will not help if ammonia is in your tap. need to test.

Yeah with those water changes the nitrate should def be lower, if not zero. Hopefully you can get the ammonia test kit... If not I'm sure one of us can lend out ours. If you did end up getting one...How's the ammonia in the tank vs the tap water?

The PPM in the ammonia was less that 3 ppm in the tank and .25 reading off the tap water. I'm going to knock our a water change and a couple ammonia pills to lower the lever a bit more. What gives??

Yeah the ammonia you are getting readings of through the tap is probably the chloramines and that doesn't help with the nitrates either.

The rest look in order though.

Also if you're heavily dosing Prime, it'll throw off the ammonia readings in your tank water.

Hey do the fish look like they're gasping, or are they having redness around the gills? If not then it's probably not ammonia or chloramines...

You can see in the vid they are gasping and look to be dropped to the substrate.

Classic sign of chloramine/ammonia poisoning or heavy metals.

Doing 100% water changes I've noticed it pretty often.

Yeah. I saw that with the one fish he focused on but the others seemed active and I couldn't get a good look at their breathing.

spike in any part of the nitrogen cycle seems to have that effect from what I have noticed in my tanks.

I think prime only throws off the test kit so far but not much off from what's there but I wouldn't be sure as I don't use prime.

TUne, Hit the tank with AquariumSalt, it will help with the gill function while the tank is having the spikes and will make the nitrites less lethal.

I'll post another vid later. As well as do another water change after testing the tap water first. Fish are doing fine minus a clown loach, mbuna, and peacock

Check the gills of the dead fish. if they are a bloody mess you have a ammonia nitrate problem

The 3 fish had no signs of anything, normal coloration and no more or no less. Hope I don't get any surprises when I get home this evening, and I will be knocking out a 40% water change out today
