I plan to use Tahitian black moon sand or whatever it is called... I am thinking a tan background whatcha all think?

That moon sand is really fine and compacts really easily.

I love the look but soon after setting up a tank with it I regret it.

builds gas pockets like no other and just gets everywhere... would imagine your high flow tank you will be regretting it as well.

I haven't used much else black sand but the black beauty stuff is suppose to be better option

I am open to pretty much any color sand... I was pricing garnet lol

yea it is. been reading about people putting in there aquariums. I am not gonna use it probably just go with pool sand.

The only other nice black sand that I have used with little problems that sand normally have is the Estes brand inert sand. I remember getting it from FRII back when it was the full store.

Colored sand with a painted portrait of a clown fish on the bag I think. That stuff is more coarse and works great.

i got a small bucket of this really fine black sand with an aquarium, it looks super cool but it is so fine i am afraid to use it. it will even float on the surface of water. i will find some use for it someday but i was testing it and it does blow around really easily.

eh I will probably just get pool filter sand lol
