    Re: discus eggs

Are your two egg laying females alone in their own tank now ?
If so, you can introduce a willing male in the fray and he will pair up with one of them.  You may and I say be VERY watchful of your two females, who might gang up on the poor single guy and beat him up.   If this happens, separate all three and then in a week or two send the male to see only ONE of the two females (time can be shorten if you see the female getting more and more ansy about laying eggs again)  Once they have been alone for a while, and they run into a suitable mate, they will do what they do naturally in the wild..
Once the female has been chosen, you will need to see if they chase the other female away or leave he alone.  If he (the male) leaves the female alone there is a chance that he will mate with one and then you have had fry he will mate with the other...

      Re: discus eggs

hmm i wonder as Discus have more and more generations in captivity will they get easier to take care of since the once successfully being bred are happing in more diverse situations? and if they do i will wait a few more years and a few more generations thank you.

        Re: discus eggs

The two female I took out and put in the 35 gallon. I was late and they lay eggs on the driftwood, so I just brought it over to the 35 gallon.  The other female with her eggs are still in the community tank with the other males.  I will listen to your advice zulabb and bring one male in with the two females.  If they still dont have frys I will just have to buy a new male.

              Re: discus eggs

Guess what I a male has finally pair up with one of the females.  The eggs are 3 days old with black spots, so Im guessng they will hatch in about 2 days or so.  Hopefully the other fish dont snatch them up.  I brought them back in the community tank as they were munching all my shrimp in the other tank.  Hopefull there will be frys.

Here are some pictures. Its kind of hard to see the eggs in the pictures so bare with me.

Supaflyz-  you make me think of having discus again.. (used to have brown Discus)   Yours are incredibly beautiful :)
I am VERY happy to hear that you have gotten them to spawn and it looks like you will have off spring too.

I was thinking about getting a few discus from gulfcoastdiscus.com now that he is back. thought maybe in a few months you'll have a few to sell.

Ok guys the wigglers got eating.  I think I only had rougly around 10 survivors all eaten up by the congo tetras.  I bought a new tank just for it.  It's around 30-35 gallons for the pair.  I wanted to know how long I will have to run the filter in the new tank before I add the pair in.

Is the filter new or seasoned?

Its been running on the shrimp tank for about 3 months.  I did have some neon tetras in there with some otto.  Would that be sufficient bio load?
