  • Rainbowfish

I'm always drawn to the small tanks at Fish Gallery. I noticed that they have a new species of rainbowfish . . . listed for $90/pair. While I don't think I'll get those, it did renew my interest in rainbowfish. I used to have a 75g planted tank with 14 Turquoise Rainbowfish. I'm thinking about getting back into it.

Who here has rainbows? Post pics if you can!
    Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I have rainbows! I have both threadfins and furcatus (blue eyed forktails, pseudomugil furcatus) and they're all too fast for me to photograph well! They're stunning though and work as excellent dithers for shell dwellers in an alkaline tank. Here's a couple of sucky shots of the forktails in my 20 long. They're blurry but you can at least see how vibrant they are!

They look pretty awesome when the males display to each other. Their fins almost look shredded hehe

i had a 75 gallon Melanotaenia rainbowfish tank with 10x cross tank waterflow going before Ike. that was my version of a cichlid tank where everyone gets along. i would love to do a 125+ gallon version of this again someday. to me, not much beats the tried and true boeseman's, turquoise, and irian jayas mixed in with congo tetras.

                            I have rainbows!

I have 3 pairs of pseudomugil gertrudae aru II in a planted 10 gallon and 15 boesemani in a 100 gallon. I tried to snap some pics, but they are too fast for me. I really need to learn to use my camera more effectively!

How do you like your gertrudae? I think its time to move things around and set up another tank!
