I LOVE them! They've got great color and are very active. I have them in a 6 gallon tank right now. I suspect that they have spawned in there, but there are a couple of amano shrimp that I think probably ate the eggs. I am in the process of moving them to a 10 gallon tank that they will have to themselves. I am hoping for some fry in the future.

I have myself been eyeballing some type of psuedomugil, especially with all these nanos we collect. With their water parameters being perfect for our tap it sounds like the perfect tank indeed...

pseudomugil gertrudae aru II are pretty cool, but have you seen P. signifer- Harvey Creek (very high yellow fins with white tips), or P. cyanodorsalis, (blue backs) or P. tenellus (black fan like fins, very delicate- like it brackish)- pretty hard to find. The coolest thing about the pseudomugils is that in a group they look like little flocks of birds, esp. when male flare at one another. Aqua Bee, love the forktails!

Absolutely! I was just gonna say that P. furcatus are weirdly interesting to me. I really enjoy watching the males flex and watching the females chase each other. They're constantly moving. Never thought I'd enjoy small fish as much as I do these guys. And the threadfin rainbows are so much calmer in comparison that they almost seem boring.

We will be setting up a new tang tank for some shellies and I bet they would pop in it, we'd likely be in for some... Just have to pitch the idea to the little one who will be the tanks caretaker....

Pseudomugil pellucidus - saw these on Aquabid, this morning. I've never seen them before.

Mine won't stay still. really hard to snap pics of them. they come up to the tank when I approach, but they see the camera and they are like "don't be pointing that thing at me"

                      Rainbow 11.jpgrainbow 12.jpg

They have a metallic purple body, the lower half is red, they have a dark stripe down their middle and the fringe of their fins are black. When they are happy the purple flares up really brightly. They are about 2.5- 3 inches long

Do you know what you bought that rainbowfish as, or was it labelled 'Australian Rainbowfish'?

was a random buy from Petsmart because they were a dollar. I am surprised they all survived. They were labelled as Praecox but there were about three clearly different types in the tank.

                              They are really hardy.

I think armthehomeless is right, they look like some type Melanotaenia fluviatilis (aka Austrialian Rainbowfish). they tend to have those black edges on their fins and change color rapidly.
