I have had a lot of personal/ family stuff going on the past year that has kept me at home. I will try to get out some, but I have several extra jobs/ events I have been working that keep me very busy. My schedule is why I had to sell the discus, dang I loved those fish. I am slowly turning the show tank to a angle tank (a little easier than discus).

Moganman- I already have a shrimp tank and don't want to do planted.
Geral- the inkspot are my favorite calvus and what drew me to them.
Fishtafarian- Fish are more than just a hobby, they are an obsession.

Still looking for ideas. Willing to go simple, just needs to be interesting. Don't mind the basics, just not the same old cichlids I have had before (Africans like yellow labs and such). Like either lots of small active colorful fish or a small mix of personality fish.

Nothing has the personality of puffer fish. It doesn't matter what kind they all have personality.

What kind of puffers and tank mate could I put in a 30? I tried to look this up and all I could come up with is pea puffers and no tank mates. any other input on puffers. I like the idea.

I have cyps, gobies, shellies (multis) and petricolas in a 30 gallon tank and all are doing fine. Just get the cyps small and eventually they might need an upgrade. Our cyps and multis are breeding in ours and our gobies are getting bigger, hopefully they'll do the same...

You could do Irrebescos in a tank that size...

I have neon tetra's and exclamation point rasborars in with my puffers.. I would say any fish that won't nip at the puffers and fish with short fins...

I think I will go puffer. Thanks for the input. Now to make the tank scape right for them and to decide on tank mates. I will probable put a few plants in there to make them happy. I think I read that you should not have plastic plants in with puffers as they nip at plants. is this true?

Mine only nip at plants when they are going after food. They will sometimes get a chunk of plants with whatever they are going after. I have a ton of Wisteria in my puffer tank. It helps break there lines of sight that helps keep their aggression in check.
