What do you do with fry?
I used to breed Betta Falx & Betta Picta. Both species are comunity fish - non-aggressive small mouthbrooders that require soft acid (pH 6.5) water.
The male carries about 15 eggs / fry in his mouth and spits them out in about 10 days. Usually the parents don't bother the fry but older siblings will try to eat them. I enjoyed them for about a year but they are rather drab and I lost interest in them and turned my stock over to the IBC Species Mainantence Program.
