I picked up a 125 gallon setup this weekend that came with an Eheim pro # 2080 filter setup, stand, canopy, lights and gravel for $500 off craigslist. I think it was a pretty good deal since the filter itself is only two years old and is $450 new. I am thinking I want to DIY a wet/dry system for it too. Taking the eheim into account how big of a wet / dry should i do? I will have to use a HOB overflow since the tank is not drilled and i don't really want to drill it. I've looked at lots and lots of diy's and i've got the itch to do one.
As for the eheim, it's about two years old but looks brand new and was already loaded up when I got it. The bottom tray has the Eheim Mech in it, next two trays up have the brown balls that look like cocoa puffs, then the grate and then the top tray with the coarse blue pad. I know the white pad is missing and so far nobody around em has them so i'll probably hit up ebay or amazon for that but what do people usualyl have in the other trays when using only this filter and what would you reccomend once I setup the wet/dry? Currently the spray bar is in the middle and a return at each end.
Right now we have no idea of what we want to keep in the tank.
