Re: ID fish @ fish ranch II

lol yeah it started as a good idea, i think that someone that knows tanks would realize how hard it is to light a fake reef set up like that, particularly with saltwater, so that alge isnt an issue, they would need thousands of snails and then hundreds of crabs to try to keep it clean and forget corals. but of course you cant keep big fish with those. so why dont they just use a uv sterilizer or chemical treatments and just do lots of water changes. Aquarium world has a big problem with their large salt tank too. they both obviously didnt think it through real well. i think Ranch should donate grouper to an aquarium/sell the morays/ and through a few MH lights over the tank and make it a low light plant set up, 3-4 ft stem plants, perfect for jungle val too, and large pieces of driftwood filled with anubias petite and java fern. a veritable underwater forest.

i love the idea of a huge planted tank, it would be nice to see some of the plants at their full potential, imagine all the different fish they could put in their too, that will probably naturally multiply given the size of the tank

One of the men working there told me the grouper took a nasty bite to one of the other workers so I don't think cleaning the tank is a popular chore among them anymore.  All I can say is...ouch!

He is bound to be older than dirt because I think his mouth is about 8-10 inches around now.....CLOSED!!!!  They live for years because once they get so large, they really have no natural predators in the wild.

LOL! Yeah, at the meeting I just had to go take a look at this thing! It is HUGE! Maybe they should put a muzzle on it or something to keep it from killing somebody! LOL! I was kinda scared that it was gonna crash through the glass or something!

It was really scary before they had any lighting in that tank.  You would be walking by and all the sudden a monster would glide by the glass.  Those eels in there are awesome as well.

The eels remind me of the ones off of The Little Mermaid. LOL! I was waiting to see the wicked sea-witch/octopus crawl out of the shadows! What do they feed those monsters? Kids who can't keep their hands out of the tanks?

Oh my God, that was funny! Do they take donations of "feeders"? Maybe my mom (a 4th grade school teacher) has some she might want to get rid of! LOL!
