not many phyllomedusine (leaf / monkey frogs) frog keepers here it seems. depending on the size of this terrarium, knight anoles get pretty spectacular. i like the mantis idea too.

I used to see them occasionally and knew a few breeders, but its been awhile and after Char's closed the herp selection is fairly limited other then conventions.

i'm curious why you suggest these mark? have you had them before? i dont know much about them other than they can change color rapidly. genus Litoria is very easy to keep and are a great choice. i have kept the red eyed tree frog (Litoria chloris) and the blue phase white's tree frog (L. caerulea 'blue') and they were great subjects not to mention stunning looking.

I havent seen them locally since my buddy Craig had to close Texas Exotics. Dallas used to have a bigger herp following than houston seems too. Best bet would be to contact East Texas Herpetological Society, the Dallas chapter is North Texas HS.

i had never used kingsnake.com...they have a nice variety on there. i saw some nice varieties of gliding treefrogs, milk frogs, and even clown treefrogs which i am glad to see are available again. they were not exportable for a while. if this box was made into a paludarium, reed frogs would be a nice choice too. they stay small and like to sing. for something totally different, look up halequin toads (Atelopus sp.). they are as colorful as PDF and mantellas but since they come from madagascar they may already be lost to us. they are also larger than both the previous mentioned so they do well on pinhead crickets which you can order cheaply, no cultures required.

Sorry to threadjack, but while we got all the herps in here... Is there any reason why I can't make an outdoor terrarium for knight anoles? they're from Cuba, found in Florida, so it seems like they would thrive in our climate? I could build a nice big enclosure for them...

Our winter months are too cold for them, I occasionally see Bahaman Anoles at various plant stores as hitchhikers, but I imagine they would have to be wintered indoors or have a tremendous heater
