  • Hell's Angels not so hellish anymore...so far.

Well it's been a little over a month since we had the disaster with the water weirdness in the angel tank. All of the angel's survived & we lost 2 rainbow sharks, but all has been super fine since then. So, I decided to add mollies to their tank cuz I needed something that would eat algae & the 5 or so snails with them do a horrible job.

The angels didn't quite know what to think & it was pretty comical when I added them yesterday. I let them get to know each other for a couple of hours, watched for any signs of murderous plots, & got the net ready. Nothing! The angels all piled together while the mollies swam around getting used to their new tank. I was sure they were planning an ambush, but that's why I bought 6 mollies. Strength in numbers! As the mollies were mingling with the corys, following the shark, etc. the angels slowly broke up the huddle and went over to greet them.

I thought this would be a great time for food. If it's gonna go down, now's the time. So, I fed everyone their usual flakes, cichlid crumbles & added an algae wafer, broken into small pieces. This is where it got comical. One of the mollies was picking at her little piece of algae wafer when one of the angels came over to investigate. The molly stopped for a second, let go of it & the angel dove right in and snatched it. Well, little miss molly wasn't having any of that! She snatched it right out of the angel's mouth, lol. This little game went on for a few minutes until the angel finally gave up & swam back over with the other angels. I was glad to see that the little mollies were standing up for themselves & not letting the angels bully them.

I literally check on all of my fish about once an hour. I work at home & I get bored. They entertain me, what can I say? So, last night on my way to bed I went to turn everyone's lights off and what do I see? Mister molly is breeding ALL 5 females. They're in a dang conga line to get bred next, lol. So, I suppose in about a month or so I'll have little PEZ dispensers providing angel tank snacks.

It hasn't been 24 hours yet, but no one got murdered overnight & everyone was hanging out together this morning. So far, so good!

Sunny, I thought about revoking their man cards for not living up to their previous killer ways, but it seems that all of the angels are females. That could explain a lot! LOL

Troy, I'm truly sorry about your big female. That honks on bobo. If the dog looks guilty, he is. The angels are growing and coloring up quite nicely. The gold is really coming out on the biggest one now. The little one is STILL super tiny, but he gets right in there with the rest. I'll get some pic of them later today & post them in this thread.

On a side note, Mr. Molly is still breeding his harem this morning (still all in a conga line), my parrots are doing their ritual egg laying & 2 of my guppys are spitting fry right now. Ah, fish sex. You almost feel dirty watching it! LOL

If those angels are females then they are amazons in every way from the looks of it and also the booster club for the tank

If she let the molly have the food, she really didn't want it. No self-respecting angel queen is gonna let a minion get away with that kind of behavior in her tank. Count yourself lucky that the angel didn't get catty and give the poor molly lifelong self-esteem issues.

Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? Opportunity is there should she choose to do so. I was actually banking on her taking action based on their past serial killing behavior, but they're still juvies so there's still time, lol. I'll keep checking and taking head counts!

My angels dont bother any other fish now that they killed the dwarf gouramis (who were asking for it) except for the black molly pair, they really hate those mollies for some reason. the mollies are faster and can get away so they havent been hurt but its kinda weird.

I have mollies in my community tank too & of course, they get along with everyone. The dalmatians I posted the "wanted" for this week, I wanted for the angel tank. I figured from what I read that they would be suitable tankmates for the angels, too & so far they are. In the past I've had 3 various plecos in with them and they methodically killed each one so I gave up and just tried to let the snails take over the job. Well that sucked so based on my research & past posts on this forum, I settled on mollies.

I picked up 2 creamsicles as well and put them in the community tank & they look awesome in there! I would go back and get some more but the poor female I bought was the only female in the tank. Too many male mollies are one too many horn dogs in a tank.

6 baby guppies so far today, as well. We had 8 survivors from last week & the 1 red wag platy baby that didn't get eaten. He hid under a shell like a BOSS! I just found him this morning & he's about 12 days old based on her regular birthing schedule. I kinda like the natural selection thing (population control), but I'm gonna want to set up a fry tank soon I think. I happened across some beautiful male guppies with some endler markings & I'm curious to see what colors they throw. May have a little endler in them, who knows. Perhaps for now I'll use the 10g hospital tank. I should post some pics or video so yall can see & tell me if I'm correct in my assumption.

Well I intended on posting the pics and video here but I started a new thread in fishography. Troy, the angels are there, too.

my molly fry usually suffer 90% loss from the angels. i have found that black sailfin mollies seem to prefer algae the most over the other kinds for some reason. Ruby barbs will pick at some kinds of algae too and may be tough enough to withstand the angels. Texas / Florida flagfish are another underrated algae eater but they are very aggressive, especially to each other.

Hey SW, how big are your sharks?

I am asking because my albino one colored up so well (lol, odd saying that) in the planted that I want more. but I heard that you can't keep more than one in a tank.

I have heard that rainbows and red tails are downright murderous, so it is funny hearing all these angel stories. Mine eat really tiny baby mosquito fish but any fish longer than fingernail length are left alone. My angels are about 3 inches long
