i have always frozen them, i would assume that they just go to sleep and then fade out but since they are cold blooded who knows if they actually feel anything? i usually have clove oil on hand so thats not a bad idea. would a quick violent end like chopping be painless? probably but thats not something that i have any desire to do considering this creature was once in my care.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish
