when I went to work yesterday my 75 gallon Geo tank was full. By 4:30pm there was 4" of water left in it, 20 fish flopping around...I was still at work. My son called to find out what tank he could transfer my fish too. GAH! The 40 gallon was the only safe tank. So now its extremly over crowded! Looks like the bottom seal of the tank has give out. Thank God we knew a carpet cleaner guy in the neighborhood to come suck up all that fish water. Well if anyone hears of a cheap 75 gallon tank.... :?

Re: A fishkeepers Nightmare-Leaking Tank
Your other option is to take the tank out in the garage after you empty it out and then with a razor blade remove all the silicone around where hole is at and reseal it.
You can check houston.craigslist.org and see if there is a 75 available, but chances are that the owner will not sell just the tank as most people there selling are looking to remove, tank, stand pumps etc..
Third is to call up Petco and see what they want for their 75G or in your case call Aqua Zoo, tell them you are a HFB member (note their sponsor link on the front page) and tell them you have an emergency broken 75 that you need replaced and see what they can do for you :)

Re: A fishkeepers Nightmare-Leaking Tank
Aqua Zoo was my exact thought! Im going by after work today. Maybe with some luck they can help me house some fish until I get it figured out. I imagine the tank will take several days to dry.
Thanks for your awesome tips.2 75s, 125,55,25 and 14 gallon tank

Re: A fishkeepers Nightmare-Leaking Tank
Put a small fan in it to circulate some air across it and it will dry in a short time. Or hit the area that you need to repair with a hair dryer and you can probably make the repair where it is now. That would be easier that hauling it out to the garage and possibly stress more of the seals.

Re: A fishkeepers Nightmare-Leaking Tank
I am thinking Hanson was thinking if you dont have help hauling a 75 is never easy... Now back to the part where Hanson is talking.. hairdryer on the spot where the problem is at.. this will dry the area out and then start cutting back the sealant and run a stripe down of good sealant.
Get Silicone from fish store or get the silicone that does NOT have the anti-mold melted into the silicone (not good for fishies)
Then reseal it up again.

Re: A fishkeepers Nightmare-Leaking Tank
Man, if I had to go through that much trouble to replace one seal, I would just do it all and know that my tank is safe. Oh well, I guess I wouldn't know much though because I've never re-sealed a tank before...LOL! Might be more trouble than it's worth to re-seal it all.

Re: A fishkeepers Nightmare-Leaking Tank
I am toying with the idea of a new tank...we'll see. So far everyone is still crowded in the 40 gallon. I will say the colors on the Geos look much better under those lights than the other2 75s, 125,55,25 and 14 gallon tank
