  • Awesome Setups for a 10 gallon.

I'm heading to my new college dorm in August and we can only have a ten gallon. (I am definitely not a happy person here, being as though I have always had cichlids and saltwater.)

What are some unique things for a 10 gallon? Throw all kinds of ideas out there if you can! I know the typical set ups, maybe a guornami, tetras, or guppies...But I just really don't want to go for the usual. I know that small of a tank is quite difficult to work with, but any ideas?

I'm not opposed to use it as a grow out as I will be upgrading a year later to a 55. But I don't want to shove a fish in there just because I know I can upgrade either... I need something that can at least be content in a ten gallon for a year or longer.

idk about unique but some good choices for 10 gallons are the obligatory dwarf shrimps, microrasboras, maybe a nice breeding pair of apistogramma or a pair of the more uncommon betta species?

You could keep a small colony of shelldwellers (multis), or perhaps some South American Leaf fish?

Lots of Mico Cichlids look great and If the numbers are small. they do fine in a small tank.

Just do a ten gallon reef in a cube. Add a pendant led light and a hob fuge/skimmer.

I'd be hesitant to do a reef though due to lack of time... I'm not sure I'd have the time to care for it. I may try it though...

                Thanks for all the ideas!

Troy-I searched Mico cichlids and couldn't find them...Help?
