  • Odd question.....

Does anyone use a protein skimmer on a freshwater tank?

Odd question, huh? But I have been reading about their function, and wondered why not freshwater? I mean I have moonlights and UV sterilizer, I got shrimps, clams and mussels. I even got pipefish!

The foaming/skimming isn't the same with fw so the efficiency of it is not worth it like on a sw tank.

Brackish would work......you can also set up a refugium for brackish/saltwater to soak up excess nutients to.
