I have a 26 gallon and I want to over stock it. What is a good amount to stock? I was thinking Mbuna with labs and about 8 in total.

Before you think about overstocking, what's your filtration like? If it's not good enough, your fish will eventually die from excess waste

I have a 10gal with 30ish fish if that's what you think of overstocked. You could also think of the fish stores. All of their tanks are usually overstocked.

Yes they do, which is why they can afford to have overstocked tanks and also why I'm asking the OP what kind of filtration he/she has.

15g tanks running on a 60g sump with prefilter (changed 1x week), carbon pillow (changed 1x month), and huge bio-wheel, 75% water change weekly... how's that? oh yeah, and auto-top off system so everytime you bag a fish with water from the system you are changing a little water lol
            my fish house:
            2.5g- ramshorn hatchery
6g eclipse- yellow shrimp, chili rasboras, yellow apple snails
29g- geo grow-out, angels, 12"fire eel, dwarf frog, apple snails
45g- jade sleeper gobies, native killifish, feeder endlers

            75g-
2 oscars, parrot, silver dollars, albino channel cat, syno euptera, bichir, baby jaguar, convicts, yabby
            125g- fahaka puffer, rainbow shark
            and about a dozen bettas....

these disintegrate if you don't change them... they only last about a month before they look like swiss cheese. i know, i ran out for a while. they must be changed.

I'm getting a new filter. It's a 30 gallon on a 26 gallon. I'm thinking about getting the penguin bio wheel for a 60 gallon tank.

8 lab in a 26? I think you'll be ok. That's not really over stock if that's what you're implying.

A 26 is way too small for 8 mbuna. They need more space.
